Will the colours survive being washed?

A toucan design is mostly saturated colour against pale ground, and that's the hardest combination to keep looking right — the brights bleed and the ground picks it up. Cotton makes this manageable, provided you never wash it warm.

Do this	Avoid
First wash cold and on its own, so any loose dye from the bright areas goes down the drain instead of into your sheets.	Warm or hot cycles. Cotton relaxes and shrinks a little at temperature, and the pattern pulls slightly out of shape with it.
Line dry in shade, or take it out of the dryer while it's still slightly damp.	Drying it flat in the sun. Strong light takes the intensity out of the coloured areas long before the white ground shows any change.
Shake it out and drape it while damp — cotton drops most of its creases on its own that way.	Bleach and optical brighteners. They attack the printed areas first, so the toucan goes before the background does.

Cotton wrinkles — that's the trade for how it feels — and the folds relax out within a day of being on the bed. The step people skip: hanging it up straight out of the machine. Left in a damp heap for an hour, it sets creases that then need ironing; hung immediately, it needs nothing.
