One person, two people, or the whole bed?

With a plush blanket the deciding factor is who has to share it, because nobody shares a plush blanket graciously. Three sizes, and the gap between them is about people rather than furniture.

Choose If this sounds like you
150 × 200 cm Your blanket, your chair, your evening. Long enough to cover you from shoulders to feet when you stretch out, and small enough to take upstairs without dragging it along the hallway.
180 × 200 cm The middle ground, and the one most households should buy. Wide enough for two on a sofa, or one person who likes to be thoroughly wrapped rather than merely covered.
200 × 230 cm It is going on the bed and staying there, over a double or queen, as the warm top layer through the coldest part of the year.

The commonest regret with plush is going too small. If the answer to “how many people” is ever two, go up a size.

How do I stop a plush blanket going flat and staticky?

Almost every ruined plush blanket was ruined in the laundry, not on the sofa. Heat and softener are the two culprits. Get those right and the pile stays lofted for years.

    Do this Never do this
Cold wash, gentle cycle, on its own Hot water, which melts the pile flat and it does not come back
Tumble on low or no heat, or line dry Fabric softener or dryer sheets, which coat the fibres and mat them
Wash it with other soft items only Loading it in with jeans, zippers and towels that shed lint into the pile

Static is worst in dry indoor air in winter, and it is mostly a drying problem. The step people skip: take it out while it is still very slightly damp and let it finish in the air. Over-drying is what builds the charge that makes a plush blanket crackle and cling to everything you are wearing.

The one blanket in the house that everyone quietly competes for.

Every home has a hierarchy of blankets, and one clear winner. It is the one that disappears from the sofa and turns up on somebody's bed. The one you notice is missing the second the temperature drops. Plush wins that contest because of a difference you feel immediately — a woven blanket takes a minute to warm through, and a lofted pile traps warm air against you within seconds of pulling it over. On a cold evening, that gap of one minute is the entire argument.

Why the pile depth decides everything

Plush is not one thing. Thin, low-pile plush is a printed sheet with a fuzz on it — it feels soft for a week and then the surface goes glossy at the elbows and knees. Deeper pile behaves differently: the fibres stand up, so the surface you touch is fibre tips rather than the backing, and there is a genuine air layer doing the insulating. That is what makes a plush blanket warm without being heavy, and it is why this one works as a top layer rather than an extra weight on the bed.

Depth also protects the print. On a lofted surface the winter garden design sits in the pile rather than on a flat face, so the colour has a slight depth and shifts as the light moves across it. Practically, it means small marks and creases do not show the way they do on a flat printed fabric — the pile springs back and the surface reads even again after a shake.

What each size is actually for

    • 150 × 200 cm — the personal blanket. Covers one adult fully, folds into a manageable bundle, and fits in a normal wash load without wrapping itself around the drum. The size to buy if there is already a blanket in the house and this one is yours.
    • 180 × 200 cm — the sofa blanket. Wide enough that two people under it are not tugging, and it still covers a single bed generously. If you are unsure, this is the size that gets used most days.
    • 200 × 230 cm — the bed blanket. Full coverage on a double or queen, with the winter garden print running wide enough to read as a whole scene rather than a section of one.

    What You're Getting

    • One Winter Garden plush blanket in your chosen Size
    • A lofted plush surface that traps warmth in seconds rather than needing to be warmed through first
    • Winter garden print set into the pile, so the colour has depth and shifts slightly with the light
    • Three sizes — 150 × 200 cm for one, 180 × 200 cm for a shared sofa, 200 × 230 cm for a double or queen bed
    • Creases and small marks disappear when the pile is shaken back up
    • Warm without weight, so it layers on a bed without pinning your feet down
    • Machine wash cold on gentle, on its own
    • No fabric softener and no dryer sheets — they coat the pile and mat it permanently
    • Dry low and pull it out slightly damp to keep static down through winter
