Botanical Bliss Cotton Blanket
Four colours, two sizes — where do I start?
Start with size, because that is the one you cannot fudge, then pick colour against the biggest thing in the room. The botanical print is identical across all four; only the ground and leaf tones change.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| Aqua Blue | A room that runs warm — lots of wood, brass, cream walls — and needs one cool thing in it to stop feeling stuffy. |
| Charcoal Grey | You want botanical pattern without the room becoming floral. The most restrained of the four, and the easiest to live with long term. |
| Rose Pink | A bedroom rather than a living room. Softest of the four, and the one that reads warmest against white bedding. |
| Warm Ember | Autumn-leaning rooms with terracotta, rust or dark wood already in them, and anyone whose living room goes cold-looking after 4pm. |
| 150 × 200 cm | Sofa, armchair, single bed. One adult wrapped properly. |
| 200 × 230 cm | A queen bed with real drop down the sides, or a blanket two people can share on a sofa without a border dispute. |
Charcoal Grey is the one people buy when they cannot decide, and rarely regret.
Does cotton shrink, and will the colour hold?
Cotton shrinks with heat and only with heat. Keep the temperature down at both ends of the process and the size you ordered is the size you keep.
| Works on | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Cold gentle machine wash | Warm or hot cycles, which take length off a cotton blanket permanently |
| Line drying in shade | Hard direct sun, which lightens Rose Pink and Aqua Blue fastest |
| Cool iron on the reverse if you want it crisp | Bleach and hot tumble drying |
The step people skip: pulling it back into shape while damp. Cotton dries into whatever rectangle you leave it in, so thirty seconds squaring the corners on the line saves you a blanket that hangs slightly crooked forever.
The room reads warmer, and you did not change a single piece of furniture.
There is a particular kind of living room that is objectively fine and quietly unpleasant to sit in. Hard floor, plain sofa, painted walls, nothing soft anywhere above knee height. Every sound bounces and the whole thing feels like a waiting area. The fix is textile, and specifically textile with pattern in it, because a plain throw adds softness but nothing to look at. This is a one-item, no-tools, no-commitment version of that fix.

Why cotton is the deciding factor on a blanket you want to keep using
Throw blankets get abandoned for one of two reasons: they are too hot to use outside of deep winter, or you are afraid to wash them. Cotton solves both. It moves air rather than trapping it, so a mild evening in October is still comfortable under it, and it takes a cold wash as often as you like without matting, bobbling or going stiff. That combination is what turns a blanket from a decorative object into something that is actually on the sofa most nights.
It also handles the print well. The botanical design uses leaf and stem shapes with fine internal detail, and cotton holds that detail sharply because the fibre takes colour into itself rather than carrying it on a surface coating that scuffs.
How the four colours behave
- Aqua Blue — the cool option. Best in a warm-toned room that needs contrast rather than more of the same.
- Charcoal Grey — pattern without commitment. Reads as texture from a distance and never dictates the rest of the room.
- Rose Pink — the softest, and the most bedroom-leaning. Warm against white sheets, quieter than it sounds.
- Warm Ember — deep and autumnal. The one to pick if the room loses its warmth in the evening and you want something that pushes back.
