Four colours, two sizes — where do I start?

Start with size, because that is the one you cannot fudge, then pick colour against the biggest thing in the room. The botanical print is identical across all four; only the ground and leaf tones change.

Does cotton shrink, and will the colour hold?

Cotton shrinks with heat and only with heat. Keep the temperature down at both ends of the process and the size you ordered is the size you keep.
