Grey, White or Black — does it matter?

Functionally, no. Same silicone head, same handle, same holder in all three. It matters visually, because this is a floor-level object in a small room and the wrong tone is weirdly noticeable.

Choose If this sounds like you
White White suite, white tile, white walls. You want it to blend into the pan and the skirting and be effectively invisible from the door.
Grey The middle option and the most forgiving. Reads neutral on any floor, and dust and water spots show less on it than on either extreme.
Black Matte black tapware, dark tile, or a grey-and-white bathroom where you want the accessories to look intentional rather than apologetic.

Second bathroom? Buy the same one twice. Two different toilet brushes in one house is a small ongoing irritation.

Does silicone actually clean as well as bristles?

For a toilet bowl, better — because the job is scrubbing a smooth glazed surface, not scouring a rough one. Stiff nylon bristles are built for grout and pans; on porcelain they mostly splay outward and skate.

Works on Avoid
The glazed bowl, under the rim, the trap and the waterline ring. Standard toilet cleaners, bleach and vinegar-based descalers are all fine on silicone. Using it as a general scrubbing brush on tile grout or a bath, boiling water poured directly over the head, and putting it away still dripping.

The routine: cleaner around the bowl, work the flexible head under the rim first — that is where the ring starts — then down the sides and around the trap. Flush with the head held in the flow to rinse it, and let it drip for half a minute before it goes back in the holder.

The step people skip: rinsing the holder itself. Once a fortnight, tip it out, hot water and a squirt of cleaner, swirl and dry. That is the whole maintenance.

A toilet brush that isn't already disgusting after a month.

A traditional toilet brush has a design flaw you cannot clean around. The head is thousands of stiff nylon filaments packed into a plastic hub, and everything that comes off the bowl travels up into that hub and stays there. Rinsing does nothing — the water cannot reach the middle. Within a few weeks the bristles have splayed permanently outward, the base of the head is dark, and you are cleaning your toilet with something dirtier than the toilet.

A moulded silicone head has nowhere for anything to lodge. It is a single continuous piece with soft fingers rather than a bundle of fibres, so one flush rinses it genuinely clean and it looks the same in a year as it does on day one.

Why the flexible head reaches what bristles can't

The hardest part of a toilet to clean is the underside of the rim. It is a narrow lip curving back on itself, it is where the waterline ring and the staining begin, and a rigid round brush head simply cannot get up inside it — you push, the bristles bend the wrong way, and you have cleaned the outside of the rim while the actual problem stays exactly where it is.

Silicone flexes and then springs back. The head deforms to follow the curve up under the rim and into the trap, and the fingers keep contact with the surface instead of sliding off it. Because silicone is non-porous, nothing is absorbed into the head at all: no stains, no odour held in the material, no discoloration creeping up from the tip. It is also far gentler on a glazed bowl than stiff nylon, which matters if you have older porcelain where the glaze is already dulled in patches. The handle is long enough to keep your hand clear of the water, and the head and handle wipe down as one piece rather than having a crevice where they join.

The three finishes

  • Grey — soft mid-tone that sits quietly on tile or vinyl and does not draw the eye. The default choice, and the best at hiding dust and water marks between cleans.
  • White — matches a standard white pan and pale flooring, so the whole set reads as part of the bathroom rather than an accessory placed next to it.
  • Black — flat, modern, and the one that pairs with matte black fittings. In a white bathroom it becomes a small deliberate contrast in the corner instead of something you are hoping guests do not look at.

What You're Getting

  • Silicone toilet brush and holder in your chosen Colour — Grey, White or Black
  • One-piece moulded silicone head — no bristle hub for debris to pack into
  • Flexible fingers that bend up under the rim and around the trap where rigid bristles cannot reach
  • Non-porous — does not stain, hold odour, or discolor over time
  • Gentle on glaze, unlike stiff nylon on older or already-dulled porcelain
  • Long handle that keeps your hand well clear of the water
  • Matching freestanding holder — no drilling, no wall fixing
  • Care — rinse the head in the flush, let it drip before storing, wash the holder out with hot water and cleaner every couple of weeks
  • Do not pour boiling water over the head or use it as a general scrubbing brush on grout
