Both come in the same Yellow & Dark Blue print, so the only thing you're deciding is how far it has to reach. The smaller one is a one-person blanket. The larger one covers a bed with sides hanging over.

Will the birds and flowers fade after a few washes?

The print is what you're buying, so treat it like a printed cotton shirt rather than a towel. The dark blue ground is the part that shows wear first if you wash it hot.
