Ethereal Cotton Floral Bird Blanket
150 × 200 cm or 200 × 230 cm — which one do I need?
Both come in the same Yellow & Dark Blue print, so the only thing you're deciding is how far it has to reach. The smaller one is a one-person blanket. The larger one covers a bed with sides hanging over.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| 150 × 200 cm | You want something to pull over your legs on the sofa, or a layer folded across the end of the bed that gets grabbed at 2am when the room drops cold. |
| 200 × 230 cm | Two of you share it, and one of you rolls. This is the size that still covers both shoulders in the morning. |
People who buy the large one for the bed often come back for the small one for the living room.
Will the birds and flowers fade after a few washes?
The print is what you're buying, so treat it like a printed cotton shirt rather than a towel. The dark blue ground is the part that shows wear first if you wash it hot.
| Works fine | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Cold or cool machine wash, gentle cycle, on its own or with other dark items | Hot washes, chlorine bleach, and drying it in direct sun on a hot afternoon |
| Tumble dry low, or line dry in shade and shake it out once mid-dry | Wringing it out twisted — cotton weave creases set hard that way |
The step most people skip: shaking it out before it finishes drying. Do that and it comes off the line flat enough that you can put it straight on the bed.
A blanket with somewhere for your eye to go.
Most spare blankets are a flat block of grey folded on a chair, doing nothing for the room until someone gets cold. This one has small birds set among the floral sprays on a deep blue ground, so when it's draped over the end of the bed it reads as a deliberate choice rather than storage. The yellow lifts it — enough warmth that the blue doesn't go heavy and dour in a north-facing room.

Why cotton matters more here than the print does
The reason a blanket gets used or gets shoved in a cupboard usually comes down to how it feels against a bare arm. Cotton breathes, which means it doesn't build up that clammy heat that makes you kick a synthetic throw off at 3am, and it doesn't crackle with static when you pull it back. It also washes properly — you can put it through the machine after a spill instead of spot-cleaning and hoping. The trade-off is that cotton wrinkles and it isn't the plushest thing you'll ever touch. If you want a blanket you can actually sleep under all night rather than one that just looks good folded, that's the right trade.
- Yellow & Dark Blue — the only colourway, and it's a specific one: a near-navy base with the floral and bird motifs picked out in warm yellow and softer neutrals. It sits well against white or cream bedding, natural timber, and rattan. It fights with a busy patterned wallpaper, so give it a plain wall behind.
- 150 × 200 cm — reads as a throw. Folds into thirds along the foot of a queen bed, or covers one adult end to end on a sofa.
- 200 × 230 cm — reads as a bed cover. Full width across a queen with an overhang either side.
