Reindeer Weave or Crimson Frost — and which length?

The two colourways go in quite different directions, and neither is the safe one — they just suit different tables. Every length is 36 cm wide, so length is the only measuring you have to do.

Choose	If this sounds like you
Reindeer Weave	You'd rather the table said "winter" than "Christmas". This one can stay out through January without looking like you forgot to take the decorations down.
Crimson Frost	You want the red. You have a timber table, white plates, and the plan is for the runner to be the colour in the room on the day.
36 × 120 cm or 36 × 160 cm	Sideboard, console, coffee table, or a small four-seater.
36 × 180 cm to 36 × 240 cm	Four to six seats — the range most family dining tables land in.

It's coming out once a year — how do I stop it looking creased?

Storage does more damage to seasonal linen than use does. Eleven months folded in the same four places puts hard lines down a runner that no amount of smoothing on the day will fix.

The step people skip: getting it out a day early. Lay it flat on the table the night before and most travel creases drop out on their own, no iron needed.

Holiday table dressing usually goes one of two ways: nothing at all, or a full cloth plus placemats plus napkins plus a centrepiece, half of which gets moved off the table before the food arrives. A runner is the middle path. One piece, laid down the centre, and the table reads as set. The elk motif does the seasonal work without tipping into novelty — it's a woven figure repeating down the length rather than a printed cartoon, so it looks like something you chose rather than something you grabbed.

Why a woven motif outlasts a printed one on a table

A table runner takes more abuse than most household textiles: hot plates dragged across it, elbows on it, glasses set down and picked up all evening, and then a wash. A printed design sits on the surface, so all that friction happens directly to the picture, and after a few Christmases the elk have gone patchy. A woven figure is built into the structure of the cloth — the design is the fabric, not a layer on top of it. That's the reason a good runner is a thing you inherit rather than a thing you replace, and it's why the pattern still reads at the same strength on the reverse side.

Reindeer Weave — the tonal option. Elk figures worked in close to the ground colour, so the effect is textural. Sits well with natural timber, brass and greenery, and doesn't clash with whatever plates you own.
Crimson Frost — the high-contrast one. Deep red carrying the elk motif, and it becomes the focal point of the table the moment it goes down. Best with plain white or cream tableware.
