Measure your table top, then add twice the overhang you want, and buy the nearest size up. That's the whole method. Twelve inches of overhang on each side is the comfortable default — so a 35-inch-wide table wants roughly 140 cm of cloth across.

Will it come out of the packet creased and stay that way?

It arrives folded, so yes, there will be fold lines — and they come out easily if you deal with them on day one. The mistake is putting a creased cloth straight onto the table and hoping the weight of dinner flattens it.
