Do you have somewhere to stand it?

Free-standing means nothing gets drilled and nothing gets stuck to the tile — but it does mean the rack needs a flat patch of bench to live on. That is the only real constraint.

Stand it toward the back of the bench with the ring clear of the tap, so a wet towel hangs into open air rather than against the wall. The step people skip is drying the base area occasionally — water pooling under any metal object on a vanity is what leaves a mark on the benchtop over time, not the object itself.

In most bathrooms the hand towel has no home.
