Fleece has a reputation problem, and it's earned. Most fleece blankets are a flat sheet of synthetic pile in a colour picked by nobody, and they read as camping gear the moment they enter a living room — which is why they end up in the car boot or the spare room. The compromise people make is to buy something that looks right and then be cold. The Paris Weave sidesteps that: jacquard-woven texture on the face, fleece warmth underneath it.

The jacquard face is what stops it looking like a fleece

A plain fleece has a uniform surface, and a uniform surface under lamplight is what your eye reads as cheap — there's no shadow, no variation, nothing for the light to do. The Paris weave gives the face a jacquard structure, so the pattern is created by the weave itself and catches light differently across the blanket. Folded over a chair arm, it produces actual shadow lines. That single difference is why it looks like a throw rather than a fleece.

Underneath, it does the fleece job: it warms up fast, holds heat with very little weight, and doesn't need shaking out or fluffing to work. That's a genuine advantage over a heavy woven blanket if you want warmth on a sofa without something so substantial that you can't get out from under it easily. It also dries quickly, which matters when a blanket is in constant use and can't be out of action for a day after every wash.
