    130 × 160 cm or 150 × 200 cm?

Sherpa is heavy for its size, so the bigger one is not automatically the better one. Pick by how you will actually hold it.

Choose If this sounds like you
130 × 160 cm You want to wear it around your shoulders at a desk, in a cold car, or on a couch where a bigger one would trail on the floor. One person, no negotiation.
150 × 200 cm You want your feet covered while your chin is covered, or two people share it and you have learned how that ends with a short blanket.

If it is going to live on a bed rather than a sofa, take the larger one — sherpa loses its point once your shoulders are out.

Will the sherpa go crunchy after a few washes?

Yes, if you wash it the way most people wash blankets. Sherpa pile is curled fibre, and heat is what welds the curls into a stiff, matted crust. Cold and low, and it stays soft.

    Do this Avoid this
Cold wash, gentle cycle, on its own so it has room to move. Warm or hot water, which is the single thing that ruins sherpa.
Tumble on the lowest heat, or air dry over a rail. A hot dryer cycle, and fabric softener, which coats the pile and flattens it.
Wash it with towels? No — wash it alone. Lint transfers straight into the pile. Cramming it into a full machine, where it cannot rinse properly.

The step people skip: shaking it out hard once it is dry. Sherpa comes out of any dryer looking compressed, and thirty seconds of shaking puts the loft straight back.

The blanket everyone in the house fights over by about the second week.

Most throws are decorative and a few are warm. Sherpa is squarely in the second camp: you feel the difference within about ten seconds of pulling it over you, which is why the one sherpa blanket in a house ends up permanently claimed by whoever sat down first. It is the winter-evening blanket, the working-from-a-cold-room blanket, and the one that gets pulled off the sofa and taken to bed when the heating goes off.

Why sherpa is warm, and why that is about air not thickness

Sherpa's pile is curled rather than straight, and those curls trap pockets of air across the whole surface. Trapped air is the insulator — the fibre itself is barely doing the work. That is why a sherpa blanket feels warmer than a flat woven one twice its weight, and why loft is the thing to protect. Crush the curls, whether by hot washing or by leaving it compressed at the bottom of a basket all summer, and you lose the air pockets and therefore the warmth, even though the blanket looks identical. Shake it out, store it loosely folded, keep it off high heat, and it holds its loft for years.

    The four colours

    • Sunshine Yellow — the loudest of the four and the one people buy on purpose. It gives a grey sofa something to do in January.
    • Matcha Green — soft, dusty and easy to live with. Works with timber, cream and houseplants without looking like a colour decision.
    • Rose Pink — muted rather than bright. The usual pick for a bedroom, and it warms up a white or grey room without shouting.
    • Charcoal Grey — the practical one. Dark enough to survive dogs, kids and a household with strong opinions about snacks on the sofa.

    What You're Getting

    • One Mellow Sherpa Blanket in your chosen Colour and Size
    • Four colours: Sunshine Yellow, Matcha Green, Rose Pink and Charcoal Grey
    • Two sizes: 130 × 160 cm for one person, 150 × 200 cm for a bed or two people
    • Curled sherpa pile that traps air, which is where the warmth actually comes from
    • Substantial enough to sit still under, not a light decorative throw
    • Machine wash cold on gentle, alone, and tumble on the lowest heat
    • No fabric softener — it coats the pile and kills the loft
    • Store loosely folded over the warm months rather than compressed
